The Kantere series “Shunkans LIVE Toreta!” reported on the retirement press conference of Kaori Sakamoto, the Olympic silver medalist in Milan-Cortina and world champion in women’s figure skating, held in Kobe.
Dressed in a white jacket and skirt, Sakamoto began with, “Today, I hope to express my deep gratitude for all the support I’ve received. Thank you very much.” At the end of the press conference, she announced her marriage to a man of the same age she met during college, revealing that she had submitted their marriage registration on the 5th of this month.
In the studio, Toshiyuki Tsuchida smiled at the press conference, saying, “It was a bright press conference true to Sakamoto’s style, and the surprise at the end was perfect. It was a press conference filled with smiles.” He further praised her as an athlete: “Personally, I think she deserves even more recognition.
