The Portuguese Football Federation’s Referee Committee has handed a negative evaluation to the officiating and video assistant referee (VAR) from the FC Porto vs Sporting CP Taça de Portugal semi-final clash.
In a match filled with controversial moments, where Alan Varela was shown a red card, referee Miguel Nogueira received an “unsatisfactory” rating, as did VAR official João Malheiro Pinto. The game’s biggest talking points revolved around potential red-card incidents involving Gonçalo Inácio and Gabri Veiga.
For Sporting’s central defender, an off-the-ball challenge with William Gomes did not result in any foul. Meanwhile, FC Porto’s Spanish midfielder stepped on Morten Hjulmand’s ankle, causing an injury—a moment that sparked heated debate.
Additionally, referee Pedro Ramalho also earned an “unsatisfactory” mark for his performance in the AVS vs Sporting Liga match.
